Week 8: 1/25-1/26
Hey Mogul Family!
We got some snow! The course is built! We are heading to Huntah!
Details for the Crew Going to Huntah: We know this is the first competition for many of you. The first thing to note is that there is a good chance the start times will change, or run orders won't be correct when first posted, and awards will definitely take longer than an hour to begin. In the end, it always works itself out with the help of the freestyle community.
Here are a few details:
On the Events/Registration page on EasternFreestyle.org, there is a link to the Event Sheet for each competition. It contains all the necessary info about training times, tickets, parent tickets, venue, start times ... Mike and Corey will both be there in the late morning on Friday
Mike's cell: 203-545-1296
On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, plan to meet in the Scholarie Rooms located in the Base Lodge (I believe this is on the main floor, slopeside). In previous years, the mountain has reserved these meeting rooms for the event
Training on Friday is from Noon to 3:30ish - if you can go, great - if not, that is OK too
Saturday check-in is at 7:30 in the Scholarie Rooms. You will pick up athlete bibs at check-in. You may need to check in on Sunday, but they will let you know at the check-in table
Team stretch at 8:00 Sat and Sun
Course inspection begins at 8:30
Training is from 8:45 to 9:45
Comp starts at 10.
Everyone should get a second run (unless the competition has a major delay)
"Usually" the first run will go from 10:00 - 12ish. The second run will be from 1:00 to 3:00 ... "usually"
Awards will begin anytime between 4 and 6.
The coaches really appreciate hot cocoa on the cold days on the comp course
You won't understand the scores at first glance - but Mike and Corey will go over them after the comp (athletes are able to get their score sheets after awards)
Note from our buddy Phil at Huntah: Due to the venue moving uphill, we will no longer be able to offer a hike-up option to view this meet. The trek up from the top of the B lift chair to the meet location is too steep and technical to make it a safe option. We are exploring options to offer a FB Live feed from the venue to allow spectator viewing online. TBD
Anyone who can help with videoing runs would be greatly appreciated
Have fun, enjoy being together as a team
Possible Daytrip to the Whiteface B Competition: We were originally not planning on heading to Whiteface's B Comp - but since events are hard to get into, there may be some interest in doing a day trip to Whiteface on Saturday 2/1. Mike is thinking of going. Please let Mike and me know if you are interested. The plan is to leave Mount Snow at 5 AM to get to Whiteface for 8 and come back to Mount Snow on Saturday evening.
Registration for Willard: Registration for Willard opens at 6 PM on Monday for the B Team. Dual Moguls is on Friday, Feb 14 afternoon/evening and Moguls is on Saturday, Feb 15 afternoon & evening. I'm not sure if we will have a coach there on Friday afternoon - but we will have coaches there on Saturday. This event is super cool with the second run on Saturday under the lights.
Registration for Waterville: Registration for Waterville opens at 6 PM on Monday for the A Team. We will discuss this weekend to see who is interested in going and what that might look like.
Thank you all and good luck at Huntah.
My Best,
-Laff
