Week 1: 12/7-12/8
Hi Mogul Family,
We are looking forward to finally being back on snow this weekend! For the groups this weekend, I will be skiing with all the new athletes, while Corey, Mike, and Paul will split between the returning athletes. Overall, the groups will take about 2-3 weeks to solidify.
Saturday Morning: We will meet at 8:30 between the Waffle Cabin and the Bluebird, with boots on. Then, we’ll break for lunch around noon. Please check that your athlete's boots fit into their bindings before we meet on Saturday.
Saturday Afternoon Dryland Session: We’ll meet at 1:00 near the Waffle Cabin, then move indoors for some dryland activities and a goal planning session. Please bring running shoes and sweats or shorts.
Sunday Training: We’ll meet again at 8:30 and hit the park in the AM to get off the ground. We’ll come in around noon and go back out on snow at 1:00.
The Theme for this Weekend’s On-Snow Sessions: The theme is to lock in our stance and shake out the cobwebs.
A Note on Nutrition and Hydration: Eating properly and staying hydrated directly impacts athletic performance and an athlete’s ability to recover. As our athletes move up the development ladder, good nutritional habits become increasingly important. The US Ski Team has put together a Competition Prep and Recovery Guide that highlights the steps to take to perform better and recover faster.
The guide is located in the additional resources tab – but the punchline is this: eat a good breakfast, put a healthy snack in your athlete’s pocket, and remind them that water breaks are for water instead of soda. Our group is normally really good with this, but it doesn’t hurt to remind everyone. You can read more about Fuel Strategies on page 5 of the guide.
Parent Meeting: We will hold a parent (and athlete) meeting from 4-5 in the Ski Club on Saturday.
We can’t wait to get on the snow! See you Saturday morning.
My Best,
-Laff
